An award-winning educator, Kathryn has written, trained, and spoken widely on creative learning and the secret strengths of outlier thinkers. Her fourth book, The Non-Obvious Guide to Being More Creative, No Matter Where You Work, was released in 2019. She has written several chapters in edited volumes and hundreds of articles which have appeared in publications from The Washington Post to Psychology Today. She has also published poetry.

Kathryn earned her BA in Spanish literature at Northwestern University and her MSc in Creativity and Change Leadership from the acclaimed International Center for Studies in Creativity at SUNY, Buffalo.

Kathryn began her career as a banker in Chicago but a move to California catalyzed the discovery of her true calling as an entrepreneur. She founded Ignite Creative Learning Studio which evolved into Sparkitivity, her present-day consulting practice based near New York City.
